Our bonkers time in Malta
Malta is a tiny island south of Sicily in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. We, the 6A, spent one week there to improve our English and were accommodated with host families divided into small groups. After we had got off the plane we could immediately feel the heat of the Maltese climate, which took us a bit to get used to.
Our typical schoolday
A habitual schoolday started with us being picked up by a van to be taken to school. The first lesson usually began at 9:15 a.m. and the topics we devoted the lessons to were climate change, migration, and Malta including general facts as well as its culture. With the four lessons coming to an end, we had a short break before our daily afternoon program.
Activities:
Sunday: We did a full day Malta tour. As our first activity we started off on a boat-tour around the
„Blue Grotto". Afterwards we went to the three cities „Senglea", „Cospiuca" and „Vittoriosa". Our
guide told us a lot about the cities and their history.
Monday: We had a half-day Valletta tour where we got to see many examples of ancient architecture like the Barraca-Gardens.
Wednesday: On Wednesday we had school, and then went to Mdina and Rabat. There we visited
some really interesting sights, like the Dingli Cliffs, which are the highest points in Malta.
Tuesday & Thursday: On these two days we didn't do much besides going to school and going to
the sea for swimming.
Friday: After school we went to the mall for a few hours and then got picked up by an uber.
After seven wonderful days we started our journey back home on early Saturday morning. All in all, this week was an absolutely fascinating experience. It made us enjoy the Maltese culture and on top of that we improved our English and had a great time together as a class.
